One month till 127 Day!

The next 127 Day is just one month away - on Sunday, the 12th of July, 2026. This would be a good time to make sure your 127-format camera is working and you have the film you need.

127 Film Photography will feature 127-format photographs made on the 12th of July, 2026, in a special online exhibition. You're invited to participate!

No fees, no competition, just a friendly virtual community joining together to make 127-format photos on
the 12th of July, 2026.

To show your work,

  1. Take 127-format photographs on the 12th of July, 2026.
  2. Send one of your 127-format photographs that you took on the 12th of July to 127 Film Photography. Please email one jpg file, 500 pixels wide, to 127filmformat ~at~ gmail.com, by September 12, 2026.
  3. In the subject line of your email, type "July 2026 127 Day" (no quote marks please).
  4. In the body of the email, please include the following information:
    1. copyright symbol,
    2. year,
    3. your name as you'd like it to appear on the exhibit, comma,
    4. the title of the photograph, semicolon,
    5. location,including country, semicolon,
    6. camera,comma,
    7. film, and
    8. your website address (or other link to your work).
In that order. Please follow the example below EXACTLY. With no hard-return characters. If you want to direct people to an Instagram page, please use the URL for the page, not an "@" handle (which will not work as a link).

All types of 127 film format* are welcome, whether the film began its existence as 127, or you used 35mm film or Instax film in a 127 camera, or you respooled 46mm film, or you cut down 120 film to 127 size ... or maybe you have a technique that I don't know about yet - if so, please tell me so I can share it with others who love this format (with full credit to you, of course - perhaps you'd like to write an article for 127 Film Photography about it!). Photos made on 127 film in a different size camera are welcome too.

127 Film Photography will publish all photos received (as long as they are in 127 format and do not contain images of nudity, violence, or exploitation).

I look forward to seeing your 127 Day photos!

*Sorry, digital photos in an aspect ratio similar to 127 film  do NOT qualify (nor do any other digital photos or photos using AI).

Two current sources for 127 film

Reflx Lab announced yesterday that they are making available ready-to-use rolls of Lucky C200 color negative film in 127 size. Their blog post explains in detail their process of cutting down the film from 120 size and spooling it for 127. Thanks to Jim Rohan for letting me know!

Also, the Ilford ULF (Ultra Large Format) ordering window is open for this year. During this time, you can order bulk 50-foot rolls of 46mm FP4+ and HP5+ from participating retailers. If you do this, you'll need to re-spool the appropriate lengths of film onto 127 spools and backing paper. Each retailer has its own deadline for orders; at Freestyle it's June 12 this year. Delivery is expected (not guaranteed) in October.

I was able to find a list of participating dealers in Canada, but not anywhere else. You may be a more skilled web searcher than I am. I checked a few U.S. dealers who have participated in the past; of those, only Freestyle seems to be participating this year, with HP5+ in 46mm. So if you're interested, I suggest that you check your favorite retailer. And if you miss the window, some retailers have bulk loads in stock or will have extra after the orders come in.
