A New Film Holder That Accommodates 127

CUTASUNDA, a UK-based startup recently announced the launch of its first product, Myriad, a multi-format film holder for scanning.

Myriad's design features a high-performance diffuser for evenly distributed illumination with no light fall-off; adjustable film guides with presets for many popular current and discontinued films (including 127! and also 110, APS, 126, 135, 120/220, and more); and a laser-etched transparent top panel for easy image alignment and full-film-width digitizing in all formats up to 6x9. The diffuser and top panel work together to flatten curved film, improving image geometry and frame-wide focus consistency The diffuser's finely textured surface prevents Newton rings.

"Whether you're digitizing old archives for posterity or your latest creative projects on current, expired, or discontinued film stocks, Myriad helps you capture them in full-width glory - with borders, sprocket holes, and edge markings - for a totally authentic analogue look. It's easy to set up and use, with no fiddly alignment or feeding issues to interrupt your workflow, and there are no extra-cost add-ons needed for different films and formats. It's a one-stop, ready-to-go solution for all popular roll and cartridge films," said Michael Swift, owner and operator of CUTASUNDA, adding "The term 'game-changer' gets thrown around an awful lot, but I think it fits perfectly here. Myriad is probably the only film holder you'll ever need."

Myriad is designed and manufactured in the UK using premium quality materials and components sourced from UK suppliers. Each unit comes with a cotton drawstring storage bag and an optical-grade microfiber cleaning cloth.

Priced at GBP £99.95 including tracked shipping worldwide, Myriad is available exclusively from CUTASUNDA at www.cutasunda.com, with full product details and instruction guides on the website.

The Myriad’s only limitation that I can discern (not having seen or used it) is that it can’t be used with flatbed scanners. I’m hoping that CUTASUNDA’s next product will be a flatbed scanner-compatible holder. If you scan using a digital camera, the Myriad is well worth looking into.
